Have one of your children been diagnosed with ADHD? ADHD is a very hereditary neurological condition. 4 out of 5 children have at least one ADHD parent who quite possibly has never been diagnosed.
A formal diagnosis is made by a psychiatrist, paediatrician, neurologist or a general practitioner with a special interest in ADHD. All of these professionals can prescribe ADHD medication as required.
A psychologist can diagnose ADHD but may not prescribe medication.
Dave Pughe-Parry is an ADHD Coach and over the past 2 decades has helped numerous families with ADHD. He has also trained over 7000 teachers and medical professionals at workshops and conferences around South Africa.
As he has ADHD, he understands how difficult it is for his clients to function in the non-ADHD world. He doesn't work with children under 16 but instead coaches the parents how to manage their own ADHD (if it is present) and how to help their children.
Dave does not diagnose the condition but he has created a short online Indicator questionnaire which you can take to see if ADHD could be present.
